Do Not Judge

Do Not Judge
Here is a poem about judging others. We do not want to judge others. It is easy to get wrapped up in our own world, but until we have walked in the other persons shoes we do not have the right to judge others.

Do Not Judge
I was shocked, confused, bewildered
as I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
by the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
who made me sputter and gasp--
the thieves, the liars, the sinners,
the alcoholics, the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor
who never said anything nice.

Herb, who I always thought
was rotting away in hell,
was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

And why's everyone so quiet,
so somber? Give me a clue."
"Hush, child," said He. "They're all in shock.
No one thought they would see you."

Do Not Judge....

God Always Wins

God Always Wins

Today, we are reading chapters 8 and 9 and we are reminded that God always wins in the end. Chapter 8 tells Ezra's return to Jerusalem with about 5,000 men, women, and children, how they prepared, and how GOD protected them on their journey.

Chapter 9 tells how the people started to inter-marry (exogamy) with the different tribes, the tribes GOD had not wanted them to become mixed up with. GOD knew if they intermarried it would weaken their religious identity, especially the priest and Levites.

The canal of Ahava was one of the many canals that radiated out from the Euphrates River near Babylon (8:15)

In verse 8:21 you will read where they fasted. The act of fasting is a process leading to purification and humbling oneself before GODEzra's journey across the desert was a dangerous one. They were traveling around 900 miles, without a military escort, with large quantities of gold and silver. No wonder they fasted and sought GOD's protection. God always wins!

Bringing the Bible Alive
Our Bible has so many words that we do not recognize. But, each of these words that we do not know, have very profound meanings, and can impact our readings in a whole new light. For example, Ahava in Hebrew means this deep intense love. So, as you are reading Ezra 8:15 it states that they assembled at the canal that flows towards Ahava (Love) see how this word is used in v.15, 21, 31. Word studies are very interesting!

Scripture
Then the people of the land discouraged the people of Judah and made them

afraid to build and bribed counselors against them to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
Then, when the copy of King Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum and Shimshai the scribe and their associates, they went in haste to the Jews at Jerusalem and by force and power made them cease. Then the work on the house of God that is in Jerusalem stopped, and it ceased until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

In the first year of Cyrus the king, Cyrus the king issued a decree: Concerning the house of God at Jerusalem, let the house be rebuilt, the place where sacrifices were offered, and let its foundations be retained. Its height shall be sixty cubits and its breadth sixty cubits.
Let the work on this house of God alone. Let the governor of the Jews and the elders of the Jews rebuild this house of God on its site.

Thought For the Day
This is a great "Behind the Scenes" story that we have an opportunity to see that God will always win in the end. So, let us take a look at the big picture of the rebuilding of the Temple and see if there is anything that we can apply to our lives.

After GOD put it in Cyrus' heart to rebuild the temple, do you think that it was an easy task?

No, it was going to be a hard task, in fact it says in Chapter 3:3 that the people went on building even though they were in fear of the people around them.
Do you think that satan was happy that the temple was going to be rebuilt? NO, satan had won the battle (he will win little battles here on earth, but, we know how the story ends....God Always Wins!) the temple was destroyed and GOD's people were in captivity. The last thing that satan wanted was for his work to be undone. That is why in chapter 4:4 we read about how satan used people to discourage the people of Judah from progressing. Read verse 12-15 and you will see the people in opposition lied and used money to influence the king to stop production.

Yes, satan did again win a little battle, but he was no match for our God as will always win in the end! The people of Judah wrote a letter back, and instead of a counter attack, they spoke the truth, and challenged the king to search the truth (5:17) satan and man were no match for GOD.

GOD changed the attitude of the king of Assyria and the building resumed again.

There are a few points that I believe this story can help us with in regards to our troubles today:
Doing GOD's Work is Never Easy - It is a labor of LOVE for our King. I hope that none of us experience to the point of being in fear of your life, as the people of Judah were, but sometimes it can be an up hill battle. Never quit, and let us always encourage each other. We all need that!satan Will Win Little Battles - It is OK. GOD allows satan to win those little battles, so we become stronger and closer to Christ. Do not let those little losses bother you. Press on. Let the little pip squeak think he is winning.

Always Speak the Truth - When the people of Judah were told to stop, they could have told another lie or attacked the other people involved, but they chose to speak the truth with humility. People can't argue with the truth, it will always shine through.

GOD Always WINS!!! - KNOW this, LIVE everyday like this. There may be little battles lost here and there, but WE WIN. Never loose sight of that!

Closing Prayer
Dear Jesus
A restful Sabbath Father, thank You. Father I pray today that we walk away from this devotional with a closer look at You and a better understanding. I pray Father that we will always keep it in our minds that You are there with us in our battles and that satan can not defeat us. I pray Father for those that need rest in Your name and that they find it.
I love You and pray in Your Great Name, Amen.

Do You Have Freewill?

Do You Have Feewill?

Have you ever wondered if what you are doing is really your freewill or is God directing you? Today, we start the book of Ezra. The writer of Ezra is unknown, but some of the book is written from a first person point of view. Ezra and Nehemiah were written as one book in Hebrew manuscripts. Ezra was written around 440 BC. The major theme of Ezra is restoration. After GOD handed Israel and Judah over to the Babylonians, Ezra tells of the return of the exiles from Babylon to Jerusalem. Chapters 1 and 2 tell of the call of Cyrus, King of Persia, to rebuild the temple, and how he gathered the people together. King Cyrus turned against Babylon and it's king, Nabonidus.

Bringing the Bible Alive
Today weekend you will read how they rebuilt the altar first (3:1-3), then they went to work on laying the foundation (3:10). It was a bittersweet moment. Some wept, some shouted for joy (3:12-13). Notice the work of satan on the rebuilding of the Temple in Chapter 4. But, in chapter 6 the battle is lost and the Temple is started again.

Scripture
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD by the

mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:"Thus says Cyrus king of Persia: The LORD, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has charged me to build him a house at Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever is among you of all his people, may his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and rebuild the house of the LORD, the God of Israel--he is the God who is in Jerusalem. Then rose up the heads of the fathers' houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and the Levites, everyone whose spirit God had stirred to go up to rebuild the house of the LORD that is in Jerusalem.

Thought For the Day
One of my friends and I were discussing, we have freewill? We we talking about freewill vs. involvement of GOD in our lives. I know that you have heard me say this before, but, the really neat thing about reading the Bible, is you get an inside look of what was really going on. For example, a person might "Feel" that they are being lead to do a certain task. Call in your conscious.... that little voice..... OR GOD! Is this your freewill or GOD? Let's take a look......

There are examples that the Bible gives us of GOD influencing people's decisions.
"But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, Pharaoh will not listen to you. Then I will lay my hand on Egypt and bring my hosts, my people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great acts of judgment." - Exodus 7:3-4

Now the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him. - 1 Samuel 16:14

These are just two that came to mind, if you search the Scriptures you will find a lot of examples of GOD influencing and being involved in human life.

Submit Your Prayer Request Today
So, what does this mean for us today? Well, two thoughts come to mind. Those little whispers, dreams, visions, and feelings, you need to pay attention to them. I would not push them away. Another good friend gave me a suggestion to write all those "Feelings" into a journal, that is an excellent idea! You might have a whisper, but, it might not come to pass for some years. It is neat to look back and see GOD working in your life. I have had two whispers recently. The first one is to visit Israel. The second came to me a couple of days ago, it is to buy a lot next to us, put a fifth wheel on it, then open it up to homeless people that need to get back on their feet. The second thought is that we need to BELIEVE that GOD is sovereign! Every event in the world happens because HE wants or allows it to happen. Sometimes this is a hard pill to swallow, but, if you grasp this concept nothing can shake you. You might not understand something or agree with it, BUT it is GOD's will. I hope this gives you something to think about if you have freewill. Have a BLESSED Day!

Closing Prayer
Dear Jesus
Praise You Father for taking my life and controlling it! I would hate to be the one to do that. I pray Father that I always have the courage to hold fast to Your coattails and follow You every step of the way until I am home. I pray Father that I can make a difference this weekend in Your kingdom and love those around me with a convicted heart.

Are You Blessed or Cursed?

Are You Blessed or Cursed?

Today, we finish 2 Chronicles the main theme of the books are you Blessed or cursed? Starting in chapter 34 we read about Josiah, who was a good king. As we move through chapters 35 and 36 we read about the events of Josiah, the death, several more evil kings, and the fall of Jerusalem.

I am not sure if you caught it, but, in reading chapter 36 they mention Jeremiah (36:22). Yes, that was the prophet; Jeremiah (Book of Bible Jeremiah)Alot of the Old Testament major and minor prophets spoke during what we just read. Here are some examples, see if you recognize the names of the kings we just read about:
Isaiah - During the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah.
Jeremiah - 13 Year of Josiah, Jehoiakim, and Zedekiah.
Daniel - 3rd year of Jehoiakim. There are more, if you are interested, you can read the opening chapter and verse it usually tells the time period. So, when we read these chapters in the future you will know their struggles and mind set. GOD loved HIS people and kept trying to reach them, but as we read, most of the time it fell on deaf ears, they either were blessed or cursed.

Bringing the Bible Alive
The LORD, the God of their fathers, sent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. But they kept mocking the messengers of God, despising his words and scoffing at his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD rose against his people, until there was no remedy. - 2 Chronicles 36:15-16 ESV

Thought For the Day
When ever I finish a book of the Bible, I always look back and reflect on it. I
Join Our Facebook Family
look to see what GOD wants me to learn or to take away from my reading. As we finish the books of Kings and Chronicles we have seen alot of examples of good leaders (Blessed) and evil leaders (Cursed). The really neat thing about reading the Bible is you can see what was happening behind the scenes. For example, a king may get struck with an arrow between his amour links. He may think that it was bad luck, but, in reading the Bible we see that GOD was displeased, and he allowed that to happen, or HE removes HIS protection from that king (Cursed).

So what can we take away from our readings? GOD may be whispering HIS heart to you, here is what HE has been whispering to me.

GOD is pleased when we purse HIM. There were two kings that we just read about; Hezekiah, and Josiah. They both sought GOD, and HE blessed them.

GOD is a forgiving GOD! If you start from The Exodus out of Egypt, HIS people have been in a cycle of sin. The same holds true with Kings and Chronicles. We had good kings then evil kings... around and around. Even though GOD is a forgiving GOD, there is still punishment for sin (Cursed).

Submit Your Prayer Request 24/7
Blessing or Curse? This for me was the biggest whisper. GOD has this "umbrella" of protection. To stay under this umbrella we have to seek HIM, HIS heart, and follow HIS commands. The nice thing about GOD, HE does not have tons of rules, they are pretty easy and straight forward. If we strive to do this we will be blessed and protected. Blessed, not in the form of money, we have to get outside of that mind set, blessings come in many ways!

If we choose to step outside of that umbrella of protection, we are stepping outside of GOD's protection and may fall under cursed. That is a dangerous place to be; of the world and satan's prey. As we have also seen, GOD will also send our enemies to overtake us, and without GOD's protection...... well, it is a sure loss.

Those are a couple of whispers that GOD has laid on my heart. I am sure that you could come up with more. If you like you can post them on our BLOG.

Closing Prayer
Dear Jesus
Thank You Father for this day and the fellowship we are able to share with the people in Your world. I always pray that I can be used for You. I pray Father that i can be still and quiet and know when You whisper i my ear. Help me not to ever be too busy . Father thank You for loving me so much.
I love You with all I am.
In Your name I pray, Amen.

The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer
Prayer is your dilaog with God, and there is power in prayer! It is a way to talk to God and tell him that you are concerned, the most important is a way to thank God for all that He does for us.

Prayer is very powerful and the power of prayer can work miracles. God hears your prayers always, the main thing that they came from your heart and not with empty words, prayer should come from the heart and the soul and should be sincere prayer without faith is like a fish out of water, like a man without air, prayer must be full of faith and sincerity, prayer should resound in your heart, and should be strengthened by faith and love for God and Jesus.

Every man praying to God must first of all thank Him for all that He gives us
Sumbit Your Prayer Request
and that we do, always try to be honest with God, He always sees and knows it, because from God nothing is impossible and you can not hide, God our Creator and He knows our every step. Ask God to forgive your sins, and do it sincerely, with all my heart, God always hears and sent sincere prayer with faith, he always knows how sincere people. Always try to think not only of themselves but of their neighbors, their friends and those who need help and who is around you, pray for them, ask God to help those who have gone astray, have lost their way to return to the fold.

Prayer is powerful and it brings you spiritually with God, helps you to understand yourself, if you have difficulty or something bothers turn to God, pray, open your heart to God and Jesus, let the God in your heart and you will feel how easy you will, your soul rest in the heart will become light. Prayer is one hundred force that helps a person to tell God about your concerns, and ask God to help get rid of the temptations and the thoughts that bother you, prayer provides the opportunity to tell directly to God about what is going on in your heart and if the prayer is sincere and strengthened by faith that God will hear it and will show you the way.

My friends do not forget to pray. Prayer is not hard. What has worked for me is to say breath prayers. All during the day I will talk to God. For instance when I see a person on the street that needs help, I will say a short breath prayer for that person.... "Lord, please help that man." That is is, nothing long or hard, just what is on my mind. Soon you will find that you are praying all day long. Soon you will find a deep connection with Jesus.

Pray, praise and thank God and Jesus, pray for the salvation of souls, pray for the redemption of sins, let your prayer be sincere about they get to God. God bless you!

Are You Tithing?

Are You Tithing?

Insight Into Scripture - 2 Chronicles 31-33
So have you checked lately and see Are You Tithing? Today, we read further about the good king Hezekiah. Chapter 31 tells of how GOD blessed king Hezekiah and HIS people when they started tithing.Chapter 32 tells of how king Hezekiah got wind of the Assyrians planned attack, king Hezekiah planned for the Assyrian's attack and encouraged his people not to be afraid. GOD rescued king Hezekiah and HIS people. Chapter 33 tells of 2 more kings; Manasseh, and Amon. They both did evil in the sight of the LORD.
King Hezekiah's water supply tunnel was quite impressive. It ran 1750 feet through bedrock which they carved! (32:3)

Bringing the Bible Alive
This is a picture of the water tunnel that king Hezekiah had built, it would bring water into Jerusalem. This is considered to be one of the greatest works of water engineering technology in the pre-Classical period.
You can tell that king Hezekiah was a thinker, to plan the counter attack of the assyrians, the king blocked the water supply. You can see more pictues of the tunnel by clicking in the picure. These pictures are taken from Bibleplaces

And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the Law of the LORD. As soon as the command was spread abroad, the people of Israel gave in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field. And they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything. And the people of Israel and Judah who lived in the cities of Judah also brought in the tithe of cattle and sheep, and the tithe of the dedicated things that had been dedicated to the LORD their God, and laid them in heaps. In the third month they began to pile up the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. When Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD and his people Israel. And Hezekiah questioned the priests and the Levites about the heaps. Azariah the chief priest, who was of the house of Zadok, answered him, "Since they began to bring the contributions into the house of the LORD, we have eaten and had enough and have plenty left, for the LORD has blessed his people, so that we have this large amount left." - 2 Chronicles 31:4-10

Thought For the Day
This is a subject that GOD has laid dear to my heart. It is very hard to let GOD
Join Our Facebook Family
control our money and tithe. Money means security here on earth, but not in heaven. It is a false sense of security.

Do you tithe 10%? Really have you figured out how much you take in, and give GOD 10% of that? When you do that, it is a pretty large amount, especially when you do not have that much for the month. This is something that I have tested GOD on. Do You know that GOD challenges us to test HIM on this? See Malachi 3:10, it is the last book in the Old Testament.

Money/Tithing has always been hard for me; for me it is a sense of security. But, when I became very sick and lost my job, I made a commitment to tithe 10%. It was very hard at times, but, I stuck with it. I have to tell you, it has been amazing. There have been months that I can't tell you how we have had enough money to make it. There have been some months where money just showed up in the form of a check.

Submit Your Prayer Request
Our family should be in major debt, as we racked up over $500,000 in medical bills. But, GOD ALWAYS came through. In fact GOD has blessed our socks off, HE has given us a new house in only a place that I dreamed of living.

I am on a quest to see where the tithing ends. We are now tithing 20%, yes it is very SCARY! But, I have been amazed by how GOD provides. Tithing does not have to be boring; for us, we love to help families in need, or support missionaries, or buy little gifts for people in the body that are hurting. Anything that advances or supports HIS kingdom we love to do.

You will find neat things happen just as Hezekiah found out when his people stepped up and started giving. I would challenge you to challenge GOD. If your tithing is not where you know in your heart it should be, step up and challenge GOD. Make it fun as our family has, but, go into it with the right attitude. If you are expecting something in return, that is not how GOD works, it is trust on your part. Can you imagine if everyone stepped up and really started tithing, we would move mountains!

Closing Prayer
Dear Jesus
Thank You Father for this challenge, this challenge to trust You in a whole other part of our lives. Father I pray that I continue to have the right heart and I pray that You continue to give me great ideas of how to help Your people. Father I thank you for this time with You and I pray for all of the readers, please bless them.
I love You and I pray in Your great Name, Amen.

WWJD - What Would Jesus Do?

What Would Jesus Do?
There are many times when life deals out unfair or stressful situations. How we deal with these situations speaks volumes to people around us. It seems unfair as we are just as human and have the same human feelings as everyone else, in fact at times it is harder as we live our lives by a higher standard. But we must always ask ourselves WWJD - What Would Jesus Do in our situation? Below is a story that I am sure has happened many times, in fact I think I have been the person in the car once or twice.

An honest man was being tailgated by a stressed-out woman on a busy boulevard. Suddenly, the traffic light turned yellow just in front of him.

The man did the right thing stopping at the crosswalk even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman hit the roof - and the horn - screaming in frustration as she missed her chance to get through the intersection.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands in the air.

He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door.

She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday School' bumper sticker, and the chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk. Naturally, I assumed you had stolen the car."

Why Bad Things Happen To Me

Why Bad Things Happen To Me

Me: God, can I ask You a question?

God: Sure.

Me: Promise You won't get mad?

God: I promise.

Me: Why did You let so much stuff happen to me today?

God: What do u mean?

Me: Well, I woke up late.

God: Yes.....

Me: My car took forever to start.

God: Okay.....

Me: At lunch they made my sandwich wrong & I had to wait.

God: Huummm...

Me: On the way home, my phone went DEAD, just as I picked up a call!

God: All right....

Me: And on top of it all off, when I got home I just want to watch TV but my cable was out. Nothing went right today! Why did you let all that stuff happen to me?

God: Let me see, the death angel was at your bed this morning & I had to send one of My Angels to battle him for your life. I let you sleep through that.

Me: (humbled): OH

GOD: I didn't let your car start because there was a drunk driver on your route that would have hit you if you were on the road.

Me: (ashamed)

God: The first person who made your sandwich today was sick & I didn't want you to catch what they have, I knew you couldn't afford to miss work.

Me: (embarrassed):Okay

God: Your phone went dead because the person that was calling was going to give false witness about what you said on that call, I didn't even let you talk to them so you would be covered.

Me: (softly): I see God

God: Oh and your TV. There was a short and it would have started a fire and destroyed you TV set.

Me: I'm Sorry God.

God: Don't be sorry, just learn to Trust Me.... in All things , the Good & the bad.

Me: I will trust You.

God: And don't doubt that My plan for your day is Always Better than your plan.

Me: I won't God. And let me just tell you God, Thank You for Everything today.

God: You're welcome child. It was just another day being your God and I Love looking after My Children...

Does Your Past Dictate Your Future?

Insight Into Scripture - 2 Chronicles 28-30
Today, we read about two more kings; Ahaz and his son Hezekiah. Ahaz did not do what was right in the LORD's eyes, but, Hezekiah was a very good king.Ahaz sacrificed some of his children to his god. This is called "sons passing through the fire" (28:3).
The Levites (Priests) did not play a major role for about a century. Hezekiah restored them back to the purpose they where chosen for (29:4-15).

Bringing the Bible Alive

This is a picture of the Kidron Valley. When Hezekiah and the Levites were cleaning and purifying the Temple (29:15-17). The Levites brought everything that was unclean out of the Temple and put it in the Kidron Valley.

The Kidron Valley borders the City of David on the east side. Check out more Bible pictures.

Scripture Verse
Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not do what was right in the eyes of the LORD, as his father David had done, but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel. He even made metal images for the Baals, and he made offerings in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom and burned his sons as an offering, according to the abominations of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. And he sacrificed and made offerings on the high places and on the hills and under every green tree.
And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, in Jerusalem, for they did not bring him into the tombs of the kings of Israel. And Hezekiah his son reigned in his place.
Hezekiah began to reign when he was twenty-five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Abijah the daughter of Zechariah. And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done. - 2 Chronicles 28:1-4, 27, 29:1-2

I have heard people say that your children are what you are. They will take on

your traits, the good and sometimes your faults. In fact I have talked to several men who will blame their upbringing for the mistakes that they are making today. I know that some parents have crossed the line and done things that they should have not, those are totally different situations.

As I was reading about Ahaz and his son Hezekiah I could not help but to think about that father/son relationship. Ahaz was not a good king, and from reading what I did, as he sacrificed his children to his gods, I would guess he was not a good father either.

But, here comes his son Hezekiah. I do not know the mind of Hezekiah, but it sounds like from the beginning his heart was set to do the right thing (29:3). I am sure that he could of relied on what his father did and what he saw his father do. But Hezekiah did the opposite of what his father did. His father corrupted the temple with idols; Hezekiah cleaned them out. If Hezekiah carried on what his father did, I am sure nobody would have thought twice about it. But, Hezekiah boldly ventured into new territory.

Whatever our past was, we need to make a difference in the world we live in today. We need to teach our children and young people that they need to do the same. GOD honors people that want to make a difference for HIM. GOD honors the people that make what is important to HIM, important to them. As we will read in the upcoming chapters, GOD was pleased with Hezekiah and blessed him.Are you making an impact in today's world for HIM?

Closing Prayer
Dear Jesus
You are the best Father God, and I pray that i can learn from your examples of love and forgiveness. I pray that I can be a shining light in Your world and make You proud.
