1 Samuel 8-11

Holy Week
Blessings~
This week I thought that we would honor Christ and prepare our hearts and minds for Ressurection Sunday. We will break away from our walk through the Bible, and follow Christ on His walk leading to the Cross.I would encourage you to keep walking through the Bible. We will leave the passage for today's Scripture on top.

Two events happened today in this Temple. Jesus' authority was questioned by the Pharisees and Sadducees, as Jesus taught. This picture of the Temple is taken from the Kidron Valley. Click on the picture to see more interesting photographs. The picture is taken from Bibleplaces.com

Tuesday
The Authority of Jesus Questioned - Matthew 21:23- 27
Jesus anointed - Matthew 26:6-13
Jesus teaches in the temple
28 "What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.' 29 And he answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he changed his mind and went. 30 And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, 'I go, sir,' but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him. - Matthew 21:28-32

Thought for the Day
My wife and I have a wonderful relationship, it has taken years of hard work, but what we have is something amazing. One of the main reasons we have a great relationship is we are honest with each other, we never lie to each other. The same holds true with your relationship with Christ. Christ desires a personal relationship with you, so much that some 2,000 years ago, this coming Friday, He suffered a terrible death just to clear the way for this relationship.
My relationship with Christ took a huge jump when I became totally honest. I told Jesus when I was scared, when I was mad, when I was confused, when i was hurting, when I was happy. If you have not started being totally honest with Christ, this week is a great time to open your heart up to Him. He will take all your fears, hurts, and doubts and fill it with Love, joy, and peace.

Closing Prayer
Father thank you for this amazing weeks journey that you went on. Thank You for seeing what was needed for us to be with You forever. Father I pray as I go on this journey that I am touched with the amazing love You have for me. Father I pray that I can always be truthful with You so You know my every hearts pain and desire. Thank You for always loving me, even when I am mad. I love You and I pray in Your Name,
Amen.

Bible Trivia
Who was Isaac's favorite son? Hint: Genesis 25:28

    Who was Isaac's favorite son?
Genesis 25:28---28. And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

Esau was loved by Isaac and Jacob was favored by Rebekah.

    NAMES MEANINGS:

Esau- The name of Edom, "red", was also given to him from his conduct in connection with the red lentil "pottage" for which he sold his birthright

Jacob: one who follows on another's heels; supplanter.
Supplanter: definition Noun: One who wrongfully or illegally seizes and holds the place of another - usurper.

In this story we see, even with godly parents, the sad demize of partiality. It might well be that Godly parents might have a leaning toward a Godly child. This leaning should not show on the outward. They should still be lead to do what is equal to every child, or evil will appear. We see the evil and division between these two brothers in Genesis 25: 29-34

This story is also the foretelling of the enmity which afterwards subsisted between the twin brothers and the nations they founded.

Esau thought little of his birth-right. By justifying himself in what he had done, he put this deal he struck with his brother from his thoughts or memory. People are ruined, not so much by doing what is amiss, as by doing it and not REPENTING!

  4. I concluded the trivia with the word REPENTANCE with that said I read more on Matthew 21:28-32. I found that repentance ran like a thread through the cloth it sews.

The questions is asked in vs. 32:

...which of the two did the will of his father?

"They said to Jesus, "The first."

    Jesus said to them," Assuredly.

    WHO IS THEY?
This represents the conduct of Scribes and Pharisees--professing to obey God; observing the external rites of religion; but opposed really to the kingdom of God, and about to put His Son to death.

    Jesus goes on to tell:
tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. (REPENTANCE)

when you (Scribes and Pharisees) saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him. (UN-repented)

What matters is living for God, not lip service. The religious leaders were good at talking a righteous walk, but their stubborn UNrepentant hearts show that repentant sinners will enter the kingdom before them.

    SEEN WHAT:
The miracles of Christ and the sinners repenting.

Even having seen they did not relent and believe him: These proud religionists should have REPENTED all the more when they SAW the sinners REPENTING, but they DID NOT.

Jesus kindly and compassionately meets the needs of the REPENTIVE sinner. He doesn't show much patience with those who are UNREPENTIVE. These arrogantly questioned Him with the INTENTION of trapping Jesus in His own words. Jesus never fell for the trap. He could never be trapped He could only willingly give them His LIFE.
