Proverbs 23-26

Heap Burning Coals - Proverbs 23-26

Listen to Proverbs 23-26

Good Morning! Sorry we did not post yesterday's devotional on the blog. The hosting company thought that we were spamming, due to certain words being used over and over, so they locked our account. It should be up and running again.
Starting in chapter 25 through 29:27, these Proverbs were gathered by King Hezekiah's men. If you remember, Hezekiah was a very good king. He was the king that became very sick, GOD had told him that he was going to die, but Hezekiah prayed to GOD, GOD answered his prayers and added 15 years to his life. You can refresh your memory on this story at 2 Kings 20 .

Focus Verses
Do not let your heart envy sinners,
but always be zealous for the fear of the
LORD.

There is surely a future hope for you,
and your hope will not be cut off.-Proverbs 23:17-18

Do not envy wicked men,
do not desire their company;
for their hearts plot violence,
and their lips talk about making trouble. - Proverbs 24:1-2

Do not gloat when your enemy falls;
when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice,
or the LORD will see and disapprove
and turn his wrath away from him. - Proverbs 24:17-18

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat;
if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head,
and the LORD will reward you. - Proverbs 25:21-22

Thought for the Day
This concept is one that I have struggled with in the past. Well..... to be honest, it is still a hard one for me. I am getting better, I find the closer I come to Christ, the less this world appeals and has to offer me. So let's take a look at what GOD is commanding us.
First, we are to keep our eyes and thoughts upward. This is not easy, because we live on this planet, and the things of this earth appeal to us. Let's face it, we have to have money to live and function. Money brings some sort of a short lived, empty happiness. Plus, alot of the pleasures of this earth look appealing, sex, drugs, and alcohol to name a few, but these are empty. Some days it is much easier to be mean and hurtful to people, then to bite your tongue and build people up.
A lot of these acts that we discussed are the ways of a sinner. Some days when I am tired, and a little discouraged, the sinful ways look pretty nice. I sometimes get envious of how easy these people have it, having no moral rules to live by, it seems too easy. But, I am a warrior, so I tighten up my belt, pray, and continue to fight the good fight.
So then, when one of these wicked sinners falls, we are told not to gloat, or be happy, or think, HA! You deserve what you get! Then if that is not hard enough, we are told to be nice to them, and provide for them when they are in need. Are you sure that this is right, maybe this is one area that GOD really did not mean this? Right?
WRONG! This is exactly what we are to do. We need to be the light of this world. Yes, sin looks and is fun, that is why it is called a temptation. But, sin is short lived and VERY EMPTY! It brings sadness and death. There are a couple of things that we need to remember:
Our joy and happiness are in heaven with Jesus, not here. We are just visiting here, this is not our home, so of course we do not feel at peace here.
Revenge is the LORDS, PERIOD!
I would guess that most of these "Sinners" are very lost and unhappy. They may have forgotten to be "Nice." You may be the only ray of Christ's light that they may experience, they are on their way to hell, to spend an eternity with satan. NO ONE deserves that punishment, we MUST rescue them. Have a great day. - Jim

Bible Trivia
What disguise does satan use to try to fool Christians?
a) A Passionate Preacher
b) A Wounded Traveler
c) An Angel of Light
d) An Innocent Child

ANSWER: c) An Angel of Light

2 Corinthians 11:14

There are three most commonly used forms that Satan uses to tempt man: 1. The subtle serpent. 2. The roaring lion. 3. The angel of light. In the disquise of the angel of light, satan persuades men to do things most often in the name of God, His Son or even religion that will appear on the surface as good but will ultimately bring corruption..
Most often satan uses our senses and passions, aainst us but for him to be able to decieve us. He is such a subtle serpent, that we frequently mistake the workings of his corrupt nature for the Spirit of God.

Satan can assume and change into any likeness he pleases. . He is the prince of sincerity as well as of wickedness. We should be on our guard. and not listen to suggestions merely because they appear to come from a righteous man, or because they seem to be acting by the will of God. We may be always sure that if we are to be tempted, it will be by some one having a great appearance of virtue and religion.

Satan will never show himself openly to be the wicked one that he is or abominable in his character; or full of evil, and hateful. This would defeat himself. It is for this reason that wicked men do not believe that there is a Satan. They are continually under his influence, and held captive by him at his will, yet they neither see him or the chains which hold them.

CLOSING SCRIPTURE:

2 Timothy 3:13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

James 1:22
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

2 Peter 2:13
And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

Malachi 1:14
But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen.

I JUST HAD TO POST ONE FROM ABOVE IN THE MESSAGE INTERPRETATION :

2 Peter 2:13 (The Message)
12-14These people are nothing but brute beasts, born in the wild, predators on the prowl. In the very act of bringing down others with their ignorant blasphemies, they themselves will be brought down, losers in the end. Their evil will boomerang on them. They're so despicable and addicted to pleasure that they indulge in wild parties, carousing in broad daylight. They're obsessed with adultery, compulsive in sin, seducing every vulnerable soul they come upon. Their specialty is greed, and they're experts at it. Dead souls!

Agranny's ramblings:

The New John Gill Exposition of the Entire Bible

Poverty and shame [shall be to] him that refuseth instruction…

Of parents, masters, and ministers of the word; the instruction of wisdom, the instruction of the Gospel, in things relating to their present spiritual peace, and to their eternal welfare: such generally come to poverty and disgrace in this life, and to everlasting shame and contempt in another.

but he that regardeth reproof;

the reproof of the word, and of the ministers of it, and of all good men, and takes it kindly, and acts according to it, shall be honoured;
with riches and reputation; if not with the riches of this world, yet with the riches of grace and glory; and shall have honour among the saints, and from the Lord himself; who will honour those that honour him, as they do who regard the reproof and instruction of his word.
