Psalm 67-71

GOD Bears Our Burdens

Insight Into Scripture
Good Morning, I hope that you have had a fun week with the fourth of July and friends, family, and fellowship.Below is Psalm 70 written by David. It is a psalm where David is in need of quick deliverance, and asks GOD to come to his rescue. Remember whether you listen to this psalm or read it, direct it to our LORD.

Book 2 Chapters 42-72
1Make haste, O God, to deliver me!O LORD, make haste to help me!

2Let them be put to shame and confusion
who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor
who desire my hurt!
3Let them turn back because of their shame
who say, "Aha, Aha!"
4May all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
say evermore, "God is great!"
5But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O LORD, do not delay!

Thought for the Day
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens. - Psalm 68:19

I believe that some of us have this pre-conceived notion that GOD is up in the heavens looking down on us, watching us, and judging us. When we sin or are going through a rough time, HE may say AHA! You deserve what you are going through! Here is your punishment, now you have to suffer the consequences. Then He goes about being almighty again, waiting for us to step out of line again. That could not be further from the truth.
When I read the above verse, it tells me of a much different GOD. In Psalm 68:18 David praises GOD for bearing our burdens. There are three points that David wanted to make. First off, GOD bears our burdens daily, not weekly, monthly, or when HE feels like it. HE is there with us day by day.
Second, GOD bears our burdens. I looked up bears in Strongs Concordance; in Hebrew it means to carry, lift up, forgive. To me, GOD is right with us in our burdens. HE does not set himself apart, or keep any distance between us, HE is right there in the thick of things.
Third, is HE bears our burdens. "Burdens" goes deeper than sin. Sin is something that we know is wrong, yet we choose it anyway. Burdens are everyday heartaches, pain, ridicule, and sufferings that we may or may not have caused. God is with us for every emotion, pain, and hurt we have.
GOD chooses to do this. The Creator of the Universe chooses to share every tear, heartache, and pain with you..... everyday, moment by moment. HE loves you that much and wants to be with you that much. Where ever you are in life you need to KNOW that GOD is with you, sharing every emotion day by day. Maybe you feel like GOD is not sharing your burdens because you are still in those burdens. HE knows you and your future and loves you, and knows that these burdens are going to produce amazing results. Have a very Blessed Weekend! - Jim

  2. Bible Trivia:

According to David, GOD's spiritual cleansing makes us whiter than what?

    b) Snow

  3. Some information on the plant hyssop. As you know I love to look at word meanings. Here is another example of why I find it fun and interesting to do so.

After I have study something like this, as I did long ago, I no longer just see herbs as plants. The sight of herbs will trigger my mind to places and scripture where it is in the word and to how it was used and the significance of which God used it.

Where in the Bible: Exodus 12:22; Hebrew 9:19 and
    several others.

Meaning/Lore: The Language of Flowers meaning is
"cleanliness"; while some traditional Victorian floral listings
say the meaning is 'blushes, joy'.

Growing: The Biblical plant grows in dry rocky areas in the
Holy Land, and is easy to grow from seeds. In colder climates
(Zones to 7), grow in a large pot and bring inside for the
winter. When planting out in Zones 8 to 10, find a sunny,
    open place.

Uses Then: This hyssop may have been used by the
Israelites to sprinkle blood on the door posts of their houses
so the Angel of Death would 'pass over' (Exodus 12); and
also during Temple sacrifices (Leviticus 14). It was widely
used as a medicinal plant in Bible times to treat coughs,
    colds and colics.

The information above is a portion from this link which you can read more:

Below is other places in the Bible where you will find this mentioned:

Purge . . . hyssop--The use of this plant in the ritual (Ex 12:22; Nu 19:6, 18) suggests the idea of atonement as prominent here; "purge" refers to vicarious satisfaction (Nu 19:17-20).

I hope I can find time to share something on the following 4 parts of Psalm 51:7

    1. Purge me with hyssop…

    2. and I shall be clean

    3. wash me

    4. and I shall be whiter than snow;

If I don't come back with further posting on the above maybe it will give a launching pad for study by someone.

  4. "PURGE ME WITH HYSSOP"

David is asking here for his, sins to be pardoned and to let him know that they are pardoned, He like us be restored to a life that would have been before the sin had come in and we lost the benefits of the sinless life. The expression here points to a ceremony that is distinctive to the cleansing of the leper, or those that were unclean by onlya touch of their body. By sprinkling water, or blood, or both upon them with a bunch of hyssop, by which they were, at length, discharged from the restraints they were laid under by their pollution. David ask "Lord, let me be as well assured of my restoration to thy favour, and to the privilege of communion with thee, as they were thereby assured of their re-admission to their former privileges." But it is founded upon gospel-grace. Purge me with hyssop, that is, with the blood of Christ applied to our soul by faith, as water was sprinkled with a bunch of hyssop for purification . It is the blood of Christ (which is therefore called the blood of sprinkling, Hebrews 12:24), (Hebrews 10:2) that purges the conscience from dead works, from that guilt of sin which shut us out of communion with God, as the touch of a dead body, under the law, shut a man out from the courts of God's house. If this blood of Christ, which cleanses from all sin, cleanse us from our sin, then we shall be clean indeed. If we be washed in this fountain opened, we shall be whiter than snow, not only acquitted but accepted; so those are that are justified. Isaiah 1:18, Though your sins have been as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.

  5. 2. and I shall be clean:
This is not just clean but it goes beyond to a bleaching through and through. For the blood sprinkled on the heart, clears it from an evil conscience, purges the conscience from dead works, and cleanses from ALL amd it means ALL sin.

    wash me:
The Hebrew for this translates "thou shall wash me" pointing to the washing at the cleansing of a leper, and the purification of an unclean person, (Leviticus 14:8) (Numbers 19:19) but has the thought of Christ's blood, in which believers are washed from all their sins, (Zechariah 13:1) (Revelation 1:5)

These Purging, cleansing and washing so deep that all the symbolisms of it can never do justice to that of what God did for us all.
