Jesus Knows Your Pain

Insight Into the Scriptures
Hebrews was written around 68 AD about two years before the temple was destroyed. We are not too sure who the author of Hebrews was. Some suggestions are Luke, Apollos, Barnabas, or Priscilla. So why was Hebrews written? Christians were facing heavy persecution, Christ had not returned, I am sure there were many who were questioning their beliefs, maybe some wanting to return to Judaism. Hebrews was written to reassure their faith and claim the superiority of Christ.

Today's Reading Hebrews 1-2
We went shopping today. As I was walking around the stores I watched people to see how they looked and reacted to situations. I have to say there were many people that looked stressed and unhappy. So, when I would pass these people I would look them in the eyes, smile, and say "Hi." It was neat to see their reactions. Most would look up smile, and return my "Hello." For a moment the stress would leave all due to a smile.

Do not let satan steal your joy. he wants to destroy what you stand for and , do not let him.

Hebrews 2:18, 4:14-16
Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Thought for the Day
Have you ever talked to a brother or sister who had a problem they were struggling with. And they would tell you that "You would not understand what I am going through, no one can understand." I know that I have spoken to people like that, or maybe you are one of the ones who have claimed that. And you may be right, I may not understand, but I know one Person who does understand; Jesus!

It is hard sometimes becasue you picture Jesus as this amazing Being who is God; and that He is, but He was also very human. I know that He felt aches, pains, emotional hurt.... just imagine how He felt when Peter denied Him, not only His pain, but Peter's pain too. Yes, He does know what you are going through, and what it does feel like..... that empty feeling.

So, when you are all alone and are hurting, know that Jesus is right there with you sharing your pain, lean on Him, depend on Him for your strength.
