Help God! I Am Stressed Out!

Help God I Am Stressed Out!

Whose life do you exemplify when the storm (Life) rages? Are you more like Paul or the sailors (Read the verses below)? Paul had a promise from God that all would be OK, his life was an example of the peace and security that only comes from Christ. Hurricane winds, a ship wreck, or a viper bitting him could not shake his faith. The sailors were "In constant suspense" ie. they were so stressed out they were not even eating!

Why do we become so stressed out and worried when life's storm rages? We have an entire book of promises from God, telling us that He will care for us and provide for us.

We have a hard time not being in control, we have to control the situation or we think it will not get done. It is easy to tell someone "Just give it to God." But, very hard to live like that day by day. What we are really telling God is that we do not think He could handle our problems, or we are unsure that we will like where God may place us during and after the storm. All of these are a lack of faith and lack of trust on our part.

If you are in a situation where your faith is being tested, keep telling yourself, God WILL come through, and He WILL take care of me. Lean on His promises! Everything that God has said and promised in His word has come true, so if He says He is going to take care of you, HE WILL! Here are some verses for encouragement.

Scripture
"But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed. Last night an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me and said, 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.' So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me."

"Just before dawn Paul urged them all to eat. "For the last fourteen days," he said, "you have been in constant suspense and have gone without food—you haven't eaten anything. Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head."

"Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, "This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live." But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered no ill effects. The people expected him to swell up or suddenly fall dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god."  Acts 27:22-25; 27:33-35; 28:3-6
