Are You An Example of Christs Love?

Insight Into the Scriptures
2 Thessalonians was written after Paul's 1 letter to the Thessalonians. Most likely the bearer of the first letter has returned back to Paul. Paul then addresses the concerns the Thessalonians had. One being, they felt Christ had already returned. 2 Thessalonians was written around 51 or 52 AD. The main purpose of this letter was to clear up the confusion of the second coming of Christ. The believers back then where dealing with increased persecution.

2 Thessalonians 1-3
"My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know that the holidays can add a lot of stress to the already busy life. I pray that you will find time to rest in the Lord, and may His grace and intense love for you, cover you and lift you to the heights of heaven."

2 Thessalonians 1:5-9
"All this is evidence that God's judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the majesty of his power."

Thought for the Day
When I was still a child in my faith, I used to become angry with people who would wrong me. If they did something to hurt me, I vowed to never forget, and, if it was the last thing that I did, I would get them back. But, as I grew in my faith, I started to feel bad for them. My unbelieving friends are going to hell........hell.

Just as heaven is beyond anything that anyone could imagine, I believe that hell is beyond anything that we can imagine. Beyond, the pain and anguish they will endure, they will be cut off from Christ. That is what I believe will be the worse part. On earth Christ is everywhere, the fresh air we breath in the morning, the amazing oceans that make us stop in our tracks, the majestic mountains we stare in awe of, in the eyes of our children, even the cute little squirrel Kim and I were watching this morning...... He is everywhere and is everything. Our non-believing friends will be cut off from that forever!

Our job here on earth is not to judge or to get revenge, it is to show Christ's love here on earth. As it says in the verses above, God is telling us not to worry about it. He knows who has wronged us, He will punish them, we don't need to. Our job is to love. It is hard to be angry with a person who is being nice to you or showing you love.

If you have a brother or sister that you are holding a revenge for, give it to God, let it go, fill your heart with Christ's love, and show that brother or sister Christ's love. Save them from eternal separation from Christ. This may be your last night on earth...........
