Do You Love Money?

1 Timothy 6:7-11
"For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many grieves. But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness."

Thought for the Day
It seems like this topic is talked about a lot in the Bible. Money, money, money..... but it is something that we are faced with everyday, so we, should know as individuals where we stand. What do you believe and what do we teach our children?

We need to understand "wants" verses "needs." I really want the new Corbra Mustang, but I do not need it
. I believe that this is one of satan's most effective tools, he plays off our earthly desires. If I do not control these wants, and give them to Christ, satan will attack. He will tell you that you deserve it, it will make you feel better, it will make you look better, it will make you happy. These are all lies, I know that Christ provides for all our needs.

If you feel yourself being tempted by satan, Paul gives us some guidelines that can help us refocus.
1. You can't take your riches with you to heaven. (6:7)
2. Be content with what you have (6:8) This I believe is one of the most important traits that we can develop.
3. Choose what you are willing to give up for your "wants." (6:9-10) what price are you willing to pay?
4. Pursue God and His will (6:11)
5. Make sure that you tithe, and always share what you have with others. (6:18) By tithing you are giving God control of your money and by willing to share with others, it puts a lower value on it. God challenges us to test Him on this.(Malachi 3:10)
