How Jesus Died For You

How Jesus Died For You

Read 55 Amazing Facts on Jesus Death

Below are facts on How Jesus Died For You. I do not think that we really understand how much Jesus did for us. Please share this post to spread the Good News of Jesus.

Crucifixion was invented by the Persians in 300 BC, and perfected by the Romans in 100 BC.

1. It is the most painful death ever invented by man and is where we get our term "excruciating."

2. It was reserved primarily for the most vicious of male criminals.

3. Jesus was stripped naked and His clothing divided by the Roman guards. This was in fulfillment of Psalm 22:18, "They divide My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots."

4. The Crucifixion of Jesus guaranteed a horrific, slow, painful death.

5. Jesus' knees were flexed at about 45 degrees, and He was forced to bear His
weight with the muscles of His thigh, which is not an anatomical position which is possible to maintain for more than a few minutes without severe cramp in the muscles of the thigh and calf.

6. Jesus' weight was borne on His feet, with nails driven through them. As the strength of the muscles of Jesus' lower limbs tired, the weight of His body had to be transferred to His wrists, His arms, and His shoulders.

7. Within a few minutes of being placed on the Cross, Jesus' shoulders were dislocated. Minutes later Jesus' elbows and wrists became dislocated.

8. The result of these upper limb dislocations is that His arms were 9 inches longer than normal, as clearly shown on the Shroud.

9. In addition prophecy was fulfilled in Psalm 22:14, "I am poured out like water, and all My bones are out of joint."

10. After Jesus' wrists, elbows, and shoulders were dislocated, the weight of His body on his upper limbs caused traction forces on the Pectoralis Major muscles of His chest wall.

See Amazing Pictures of Jesus On Pinterest
11. These traction forces caused His rib cage to be pulled upwards and outwards, in a most unnatural state. His chest wall was permanently in a position of maximal respiratory inspiration. In order to exhale, Jesus was physiologically required to force His body.

12. In order to breathe out, Jesus had to push down on the nails in His feet to raise His body, and allow His rib cage to move downwards and inwards to expire air from His lungs.

13. His lungs were in a resting position of constant maximum inspiration. Crucifixion is a medical catastrophe.

14. The problem was that Jesus could not easily push down on the nails in His feet because the muscles of His legs, bent at 45 degrees, were extremely fatigued, in severe cramp, and in an anatomically compromised position.

15. Unlike all Hollywood movies about the Crucifixion, the victim was extremely active. The crucified victim was physiologically forced to move up and down the cross, a distance of about 12 inches, in order to breathe.

16. The process of respiration caused excruciating pain, mixed with the absolute terror of asphyxiation.

17. As the six hours of the Crucifixion wore on, Jesus was less and less able to bear His weight on His legs, as His thigh and calf muscles became increasingly exhausted. There was increasing dislocation of His wrists, elbows and shoulders, and further elevation of His chest wall, making His breathing more and more difficult. Within minutes of crucifixion Jesus became severely dyspnoeic (short of breath).

18. His movements up and down the Cross to breathe caused excruciating pain in His wrist, His feet, and His dislocated elbows and shoulders.

19. The movements became less frequent as Jesus became increasingly exhausted, but the terror of imminent death by asphyxiation forced Him to continue in His efforts to breathe.

20. Jesus' lower limb muscles developed excruciating cramp from the effort of pushing down on His legs, to raise His body, so that He could breathe out, in their anatomically compromised position.

21. The pain from His two shattered median nerves in His wrists exploded with every movement.

22. Jesus was covered in blood and sweat.

23. The blood was a result of the Scourging that nearly killed Him, and the sweat as a result of His violent involuntary attempts to effort to expire air from His lungs. Throughout all this He was completely naked, and the leaders of the Jews, the crowds, and the thieves on both sides of Him were jeering, swearing and laughing at Him. In addition, Jesus' own mother was watching.

24. Physiologically, Jesus' body was undergoing a series of catastrophic and terminal events.

25. Because Jesus could not maintain adequate ventilation of His lungs, He was now in a state of hypo-ventilation (inadequate ventilation).

26. His blood oxygen level began to fall, and He developed Hypoxia (low blood oxygen). In addition, because of His restricted respiratory movements, His blood carbon dioxide (CO2) level began to rise, a condition known as Hypercritical.

27. This rising CO2 level stimulated His heart to beat faster in order to increase the delivery of oxygen, and the removal of CO2.

28. The Respiratory Center in Jesus' brain sent urgent messages to his lungs to breathe faster, and Jesus began to pant.

29. Jesus' physiological reflexes demanded that He took deeper breaths, and He involuntarily moved up and down the Cross much faster, despite the excruciating pain. The agonizing movements spontaneously started several times a minute, to the delight of the crowd who jeered Him, the Roman soldiers, and the Sanhedrin.

30. However, due to the nailing of Jesus to the Cross and His increasing exhaustion, He was unable to provide more oxygen to His oxygen starved body.

31. The twin forces of Hypoxia (too little oxygen) and Hypercapnia (too much CO2) caused His heart to beat faster and faster, and Jesus developed Tachycardia.

32. Jesus' heart beat faster and faster, and His pulse rate was probably about 220 beats/minute, the maximum normally sustainable.

33. Jesus had drunk nothing for 15 hours, since 6 pm the previous evening. Jesus had endured a scourging which nearly killed Him.

34. He was bleeding from all over His body following the Scourging, the crown of thorns, the nails in His wrists and feet, and the lacerations following His beatings and falls.

35. Jesus was already very dehydrated, and His blood pressure fell alarmingly.

36. His blood pressure was probably about 80/50.

37. He was in First Degree Shock, with Hypovolaemia (low blood volume), Tachycardia (excessively fast Heart Rate), Tachypnoea (excessively fast Respiratory Rate), and Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).

38. By about noon Jesus' heart probably began to fail.

39. Jesus' lungs probably began to fill up with Pulmonary Oedema.

40. This only served to exacerbate His breathing, which was already severely compromised.

41. Jesus was in Heart Failure and Respiratory Failure.

42. Jesus said, "I thirst" because His body was crying out for fluids.

43. Jesus was in desperate need of an intravenous infusion of blood and plasma to save His life

44. Jesus could not breathe properly and was slowly suffocating to death.

45. At this stage Jesus probably developed a Haemopericardium.

46. Plasma and blood gathered in the space around His heart, called the Pericardium.

47. This fluid around His heart caused Cardiac Tamponade (fluid around His heart, which prevented Jesus' heart from beating properly).

48. Because of the increasing physiological demands on Jesus' heart, and the advanced state of Haemopericardium, Jesus probably eventually sustained Cardiac Rupture. His heart literally burst. This was probably the cause of His death.

49. To slow the process of death the soldiers put a small wooden seat on the Cross, which would allow Jesus the "privilege" of bearing His weight on his sacrum.

50. The effect of this was that it could take up to nine days to die on a Cross.

51. When the Romans wanted to expedite death they would simply break the legs of the victim, causing the victim to suffocate in a matter of minutes. This was called Crucifragrum.

52. At three o'clock in the afternoon Jesus said, "Tetelastai," meaning, "It is finished." At that moment, He gave up His Spirit, and He died.

53. When the soldiers came to Jesus to break His legs, He was already dead. Not a bone of His body was broken, in fulfillment of prophecy (above).

54. Jesus died after six hours of the most excruciating and terrifying torture ever invented.

55. Jesus died so that ordinary people like you and me could go to Heaven.

All He Asks You is to Love Him, Your Lord, Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind!! Can't you even do this for Him?

Alright then people, instead of saying that it's just fake, why don't you prove to us that it's fake. Don't just tell us to read some random book, quote the author and give us substancial proof that supports your ideas instead of spouting words that have no argument to them. People used to believe that the world was flat and said that it was without. just because you said that it's false with no proof doesn't mean that it is what you say. Modern Christian holidays are unfortunately not the specific dates that real events happened. England and other european countries that were Christianized usually centered around the church. So the church which apparent duty at the time was to keep the country Christanized proclaimed many other non-christian holidays into christian based holidays. Easter used to be a pagan holiday honering the goddess of fertility and sex which was named Ishtar (pronounced Easter) but was changed to our current christian holiday based on the wrong belief that Jesus rose from the dead on easter day. Heck even Christmas' date is wrong. Archeologists say that the real date of Jesus' birth was in June/July not December. Also, if God didn't exist as Atheists say, and evolution was true, there would be no moral compass at all. We would live by what evolution stands for, Extinct others, or be extinct. We would try our best to survive as a race and since we can't live for a long time, it would be reproduction in means of keeping the human beings alive. Then that would mean that men could go around and rape any women they saw and be justified for they are contributing to the suvival of the human race. "Atheists should point out that life without God can be meaningful, moral and happy." (Julian Baggini) is what Atheists say. And honestly speaking, i don't think any Man or Woman would appreciate being forced to rape/being raped at all. Also, people say that there are so many proof that evolution is right. Well then why is evolution still a theory? Cuz there is no proof! Get that into your thick skull. If we ask you why do you believe in evolution, you all say "because people who are smarter than us say that it is true". So why don't you face your hubris and get rid of your own problems before judging other people. The so called "people that are smarter than us" cannot and i say CANNOT prove to the rest of the world that evolution is right so who are you to start saying that evolution is true and perfect while creationism is flawed and false. Also, Evolution is when one species turns into another specie through the proccess of natural selection and it's enviroment not the way people grow extra skin on their foot when walking barefooted. That is called Adaptation not Evolution. There is no proof that Evolution is true so stop screaming at the top of your lungs that it's true when you don't even have proof on such thing.

As true christians, how can we condemn or judge what anybody else believes in?? I believe in God and Jesus and the Bible. I like to think I'm a Christian. But most christians are the first to judge. The first to ridicule. It's the most hypocritical thing I've ever seen.

On a serious note, I guess he doesn't realize that God created BOTH the heavens and the earth which would include the 9,000 planets that he referred to.

Unfortunately, the reason that so many former xians fight back is that many of you are bigots who cause harm to so many others. I wish that my parents hadn't ruined me for so long with religious discrimination. Plus it gives you a perfect out, to be a horrible person who still gets to go to heaven.

In some cases, the cross beam with the victim attached would be simply nailed to a standing tree trunk. It is likely that this method was used in Jesus' crucifixion, hence all the references to Him being hanged "on a tree".

55 facts?!? Isn't this like 3 things repeated with different words a bunch of times?

1) can't breathe like this
2) dislocation of arms, etc
3) cramping/fatigue of leg muscles

ok, maybe 4 things:
4) heart failure

It reads like something carried out by an unwilling junior high student who needed to list "55 facts about" something.

This is absolutely beautiful. I feel this too and it's so amazing to read others sharing this feeling!!!

I still do not understand why this was necessary in order to redeem humanity. It seems to me that far less extreme measures might have accomplished the same thing. A host of Angels appearing in the clouds and declaring that He was Who He claimed to be would have convinced me I think. But who am I to say?

Seems strange to me that not one person mentioned the fact that Constantine had his minions re-write the "bible" and only include what he felt should be there. And there is also the fact that the whole story was taken from the pagan beliefs.

http://www.amazon.com/Jesus-Mysteries-Original-Was-Pagan/dp/0722536771/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1428191533&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=the+jesus+mysteries+pagan+origins

Read the books... check the facts... then make up your mind. I am not saying there waan't a man named Jesus ( or however they spelled it back in the day) but... I am saying the story you all love so much is not accurate.

The first "fact" is that crucifixion is the most painful form of death ever invented by man.

That isn't a fact. That's an opinion. Nobody has every died twice, so how could anybody possibly know what is the MOST painful way to die? Nobody could.

That being said, was it painful? Obviously. But most painful? Let's not purport stuff like that as fact.

Pastor Brian L. Boley said...

Ancient authorities such as the Jewish-Roman general Josephus, writing circa 75 AD confirm the existence of Christians at that early age. Christian symbols were found in Pompeii, which was destroyed in 72 AD. While Easter was a pagan holiday, the only part that transferred was the name. A good start to understand this is to read the four books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John before you reject based upon other readings, and what other people have said. After that, try reading "The Case for Christ" by Strobel. A truly open mind looks at both sides.

Is it really dying if he's back 3 days later? More like Jesus took a long nap for your sins :) and while on that topic, if he did indeed I for your sins to be forgiven, why is it still a requirement to continuously ask for forgiveness? You're already forgiven.

The word translated "cross" in the New Testament is the Greek word stauros, which "denotes, primarily, 'an upright pale or stake'" ( Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words, 1985, "Cross, Crucify").
"Both the noun and the verb stauroo, 'to fasten to a stake or pale,' are originally to be distinguished from the ecclesiastical form of a two beamed 'cross'" (ibid.).
The Bible contains no specific description of the stauros on which Jesus died. The word stauros was used in nonbiblical writings of the time to refer to pieces of wood of various shapes, with and without crosspieces. If it were important that we know its exact shape, the Gospel writers could have easily provided us that information—yet none of them do. What is important for us to know is the willing sacrifice Jesus made of His own life for our sakes.

this story was never confirmed even the bible is not all told truth so if this man did something wrong he got punished for it he didnt die for us he died cause of a crime.

Well the new Revised Standard version uses the word 'crucify'. No footnotes were there to suggest alternative translations of the Greek. I chose the verses from Mark since that appears to be the first Gospel written, even though it isnt' placed chronologically in the Bible. This was figured out by Biblical scholars a while back. Not maybe they used a stake and nailed him to it, but what is usually thought of is a Tau type cross or the more familiar cross. Either way, I'm glad they didn't impale him, other wise you'd all be wearing sticks instead of crosses. Don't you find that morbid? Imagine commemorating John F. Kennedy with a lapel pin shaped like a rifle. That's what it amounts to.

Such moving and spirited dialogue, impregnated with diverse views, whether athiest, agnostic, Christian or just Godly minded. With respect to the sensitivities of all, please realize the premise of the article was from 1960s medical perspective and occasionally revived. As a physician who has spent an entire career teaching, lecturing, practicing and specializing in Trauma & Emergency Medicine, I have studied the crucifixion from the trauma perspective as well as historical and "religious". The reality is that every scientist, historian, & "expert" must endure all personal bias & concede that we are trumped by the verdict of Pontius Pilate as expressed when he was asked after the crucifixion for the body of Jesus. This Roman Governor whose government had practiced uncountable crucifixions, was & still remains the truest expert. His undeniable & spontaneous response was, "What?...is he dead"??
You see, this crucifixion was never meant to kill him, especially in the matter of hours he suffered after the lashings & torture. A sea of Trauma literature demonstrates survival from horrific trauma and especially in the case of Jesus, the historical evidence of survival is even more compelling.
Let us consider this: since the views blogged & expressed by the many contributors include atheists as well as non athiests, it is well understood that there are many arguments from athiests for no God as there are even more arguments from non athiests favoring the existence of God.
In like, while there may exist some medical articles on the death of Jesus, I assure you we also have a powerful and compelling case for the survival of Jesus from the Trauma, Medical, Biblical as well as Historical perspective. So what does that change? A beautiful man of God who spoke only of good was brutally inflicted for his love for mankind and his Creator. I for one have a deeper profound love and regard for such an individual that we call the Christ.
A career in Trauma has given me humility and pause to reflect on the resilience of the human body and it's will to survive. I will do my best to keep in the loop of discussion time permitting but do hope that we appreciate the reality & glory in his survival to trump that which is perceived in his death. Peace

Cesare Borgia is your Jesus.the white one any (now that is a miracle white guy , blonde hair and blue eyes from the middle east lol)you see all over the place anyway. There is absolutely no evidence that Jesus ever existed. And there wasn't even a j in the Hebrew alphabet. The bible is a ripoff of so many religions before it. The Jesus story is in the bible twice. Heck john had it in the old testament. And if it not a plagiarism checker around just read the Egyptian book of the dead all the ten commandments are there. Jesus and Horus stories are almost identical. And that's just the start. Do u really be ally Noah could find and fit every animal in the world in a boat that size. And if you do believe the Bible. No ur loved ones are not looking down on you they are in the ground waiting on Jesus to comeback and when he does they won't have any memory of you lol. But the easter bunny isn't real either so. Continue to believe Satan was in the garden and not a Macedonian god or the golden calf wasn't just signalling the in of the age of the Taurus. Into the age of the Pisces ( which we are in now) you know the reason for the fish on your car. But now comes the age of the Aquarius. You know that water bearer Jesus told you to follow after him. And the Marys and so on.oh Mary Magdalene wasn't a whore... you know how those popes do. Constantine was a genius with that council of nicea .and that murderous king James. Did god forbid graven images. Nothing in the heaven or below or in the sea. So u should not have pictures of Jesus anyway. U going to hell anyway for worshipping Jesus as a God. He never said he was God but u know whatever is relatable right.self why have you forsaken me. Smh must have been delirious right? Made the heavens and earths in 7 days. But days hours mins years act is based off the earth rotation of the sun so well never mind believe in fantasies if it gets you through.

In the original Greek scriptures the word (Stavos) is used when Jesus was crucified....the word Stavos is transalated into stake or tree.. not cross....But that is really a small thing in comparison to Idol worship which God comdemns doing in the Bible...so when you see people with crosses around their necks or people bowing down and praying to these crosses, this is a form of idol worship that is so clearly condemned by God along with magic or sorcery or spirit mediums etc which is condemned too....someone said the cross makes me remember what Jesus did for me...We dont need an idol or a piece of Jewelry around are necks to remember what Jesus did...If we read the scriptures daily I promise you will never forget...And if you think about it, it is a little morbid to hang something around your neck or in your home of how someone died....Example: if someone died from a gunshot, would we hang a gold little gun on a chain so we can remember how they died? If someone died in a car accident, would we hang a little car around our necks to remember they died that way...Or a knife or a rope? I promise you will never forget how someone died and do not need a idol or a symbol to remind you of it... It is a form of Idolatry and it is forbidden to take part as Christians in that type of worship...

No non believer is fearfulof death. How can i be fearful of that which does not exist? Its made up. A fairy tale. Heaven and hell. Good and bad. Yin and yang. Its all the same. If anything you are the fearful one. You have to put on an image so as to make it to this place where you'll be reunited with all your dead family and everything is all great. Horseshit. And history shows thay christians are some of th most violent people ever created.

He talkes about them in Genesis. Without the Holy Spirit which is a gift to those who Believe you Do not have the Truth without Him.. His work is to Lead us into the Truth. Jesus Said. For this reason I was born and came to testify to the Truth. Don't defend yourself with flattering words and out of context words. Seek Him with All of your heart and you will find Him. Ask your questions to Him not man. It has been the for over 2000 yrs. Heaven and Earth shall pass away but His words Shall Never pass away. He died once and for all stop Crusifing Him all over again and trying to make sense of it all. It is by Grace that we are Saved by FAITH it is the Gift of God.. Jesus wasn't afraid of death when He asked the Father to let the cup pass from Him, but nevertheless, not (Jesus') will but God's be done.

He knew the physical pain He would suffer and that His body was but a shell that held His Spirit. He died physically but not spiritually, and He still lives!

I got sick to my stomach reading this and I knew a lot of it beforehand.

Thank You, Jesus, thank You Father for a love that we cannot understand and the grace shown to us by the sacrifice made on the original Good Friday.

Because He lives I will also live forever and just step out of my shell like dropping a coat and continue on my way, whole and complete and with my Lord and my Savior forever and ever.

Is that why they wrote their own "New World Translation"? So that they can say 'the bible says...'

And then he rose from the dead and walked the earth like "Zombie Jesus." Years later all this is celebrated by faithful Christians by welcoming a cottontailed rodent into their homes to bestow upon them a bountiful basket of jelly beans, chocolate rabbits, peanut butter and chocolate eggs, Peeps, and gaily colored hard boiled eggs.

Regardless of how he died, the fact is that this man named Jesus died for you and for me. He went to the "stake", "cross", and gave His life a ransom for ours.

I really don't understand why we have to research everything in order to believe. Believing in Jesus is by faith and faith alone. Many things may have been lost or added in translation, the truth remains, however, that Jesus truly existed and that He is the Son of God and He died for you and me.

Jesus is the most proven historical figure to ever live. There is no fictional character or mistaken identity of another. If you don't believe why do you care if we do. I am perfectly happy letting others tell me of their differing faiths or lack of any faith altogether. Why do you, all of you speaking against Christ or Christianity, feel the need to dispute our belief. You can't shake the faith of someone who truly believes and has experienced the signs and wonders of the Lord. Yes, most Christian "holidays" were shoehorned in over top of other religions practices to force the people to believe. So they adopted the symbols and kept practicing their beliefs while the ever so messed up Catholic Church felt better about having brought religion to the unbelievers. In the end, none of it matters. Christ died for our sins. He arose and preached the new way of doing things. He is God and we are blessed to be allowed to receive him into our hearts. God Bless and be at peace.

To even start reading this you have to believe God inspired the complete BIBLE as it is written!!!
Blood has to flow for the sins of man to be forgiven, the law of God states this. (TORAH)
Y'shua gave his life willingly for man to repent and choose a holy life.
You have to accept Gods marriage Covenant to start your journey.
(Many are called, but few are chosen)
(The righteous path is narrow and few FIND IT!)
Y'shua is the door at your hart that you have setup for the Holy Spirit to enter.
This is the door that is covered with Y'shua's blood of the Covenant you made with God.
Remember that the Holy Spirit will not enter into a heart that is not 'Holy' or 'Changed'.
Now starts your journey in a holy life to keep God's commandments, to show him you love him.
(Love the Lord God with all your hart, all your soul and all your mind)
(If you love Me, you will keep my commandments)
You cannot receive God's grace if you have no SIN!
(Sin is the transgression on God's law)
There is no redemption path of man's sin without the law, check point 1.
(Now that the Holy Spirit lives in you, you will keep my commandments and do them)
(The Lord our God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow)
In case you were wondering, the law of God is the old testament and yes it means ALL OF IT!!!
To YHWH our God all the Glory...
The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
(Numbers 6:24-27)

It's all made up. Jesus was not the first to claim himself Messiah. There was more and they all was murdered. To call yourself Messiah in those days was sure death. None of it matters. None of its real. Get over it.

I have believed that Jesus died on a cross (of some shape) since I was a child. I believe in the Bible. I believe Jesus died for our sins, and I am eternally grateful. I do not believe one specific religion has it all right, how could they? Live a life that puts others ahead of yourself.Forgive, pray, LOVE. You know, in your heart, what is wrong and what is right, so do it. Thanks

Anonymous said...

For everyone hating on Christians for using the cross as a symbol.... the reason the cross is used as a symbol is because it's EMPTY. No one is on it anymore, Jesus died on it for our sins. As a side note: the cross was most likely made out of wood which came from a tree and in those times, if a person was hung from a tree, it was considered the biggest curse you could put on someone. Kinda like how the Elric brothers in Full Metal Alchemist tried to perform human transmutation to bring back their mother and then they lost their bodies in the process. It's the biggest taboo in other words. Anyways, back to what I was saying. Jesus died on the cross and defeated death to save us from our sins so we do not have to endure the curse of God that we deserve as sinful humans. The key is that the cross is EMPTY. There are a lot of churches that have Jesus still on the cross because it serves as a reminder that he did die on the cross for us but really it's supposed to be empty showing that Jesus defeated death and saved us from our sins as long as we ask for forgiveness. It's the greatest gift of love and all we have to do is ask for it.

Jesus's dad was a horrible parent to inflict this kind of pain and suffering on his own child. If that happened today I would call child protective services on him and and make sure he was never able to be around children again. It's outrageous that he would do that to his own child. He is a monster and should be put in prison.

I am touched by this article. Though after reading some of the comments, I think people are missing the point it's trying to convey.

Yes, it does not really matter how he died.. the fact is, he DID die.. for us. However, this article was simply an effort to convey just how MUCH he suffered, for US, and to give people a visual of this horrible act and help us better understand just how much he LOVED us by going through ALL of that. For US!

So don't quibble over details. Just understand the meaning behind it and know that God is good, Jesus is Lord and he LIVES.

Anonymous said...

So. basically since God created man and how bodies react and shut down and crap, but knows the future, in essence designed the worst form of torture for his son to bear. crazy

Okay all you agnostics and atheists I have had many debates on this subject and you all sound the same with the same logic. I don't want to argue with you but the lame ass excuses you use to discredit the bible and Christ will be your demise. I used to be just like you and the reason why is because since the beginning satan has lied and mixed lies with truth. he has infiltrated Christianity and fooled many. That is why there are many false prophets. You have to study to know the real truth because not every source is correct but I have found that the king james version is the best. Next is that you have to also study history and culture as well as science to build the big picture, and you can't trust religion or any human to tell you because its a decision you make for yourself and it comes with responsibility. The fact that there are so many people saying that Jesus was fake proves that satan has casted doubt on his existence which is exactly what he wants because he is robbing you of your birth right. secondly anyone with half a brain can see that this world was created by God. that is why everything is so well matched in our eco system, solar systems, galaxies... The fact that evolutionists think we came from soup over billions of years from nothing is an impossibility and science proves this because there are too many possible things that can destroy our existence. The fact that we are here means we have a purpose, we don't just exist for no good reason and this concept, is idiotic but you have been fed this lie even though it is riddled with false facts that can be proven. Next is that with some spiritual knowledge prophecy has been right on the mark to the letter, and you will find this in revolations. I was taught as a kid about one world government for years and everything that was taught to me I have seen come true. This can be confirmed by studying history and science. The (radio frequency identification chip) was told to me many years ago when I was a child and it is the mark of the beast. If you think about it and use the brain god gave you you can see this from world events that are going on in this world. This is a tool to be used against individuals that don't comply. Those that don't believe this are the ones that choose not to simply because it is so overwhelming to find out what is at stake and the pure evil behind it all. Don't believe me because it is your responsibility to learn this yourself. The truth is out there but its hard to understand without the holy spirit to guide you. The only way to get it is to accept Christ died for your sins and then ask god to educate you and it will happen because it did to me and I hated god for everything in my life. I didn't realize what I was asking for but I'm glad I did, because now I know the truth. I have spent the time to learn this and so can you. whats sad is that all atheists and agnostics use the lies in the Christian religion against god to confirm their beliefs and to make excuses not to believe in god. and for that I will miss you in the kingdom of heaven. One thing for sure the truth is not easy to find if you just scratch the surface and that's what most people do. and that's why most people miss the message. My life has purpose and meaning and I have answered many important questions that we all ask for myself and I have noticed that people that don't understand this think I'm crazy and that's okay because I am no longer afraid or lost in this world and no matter what happens I know I will have a future after this life. People in general resent that. This is a test for eternal life because it comes with great responsibility. Will you make it or will you make excuses and miss the real reason you are here and were created?

for all the "anonymous" He knows you by name, he knitted you in your mother's womb, He knew you before you were born, He numbered your days. For in darkness you cannot see.

It wasn't that He feared death, but disfellowship. I believe He knew once He was on that cross, the sin of the world would separate Him from the Father. But let's say that, in His humanity, suffering was His fear. If you knew the suffering you would endure, you would hope for another way. He didn't refuse. Ishmael, according to the Koran, was to be sacrificed. But tortured? No. Also, Abraham had faith God will provide, and He did. So Ishmael didn't have to die. Jesus was the provision. He had to die. Your input is appreciated and i hope you find a clearer understanding of the gospel

Tim Finucane said...

"All He Asks You is to Love Him, Your Lord, Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind!!" NO! All He asks is that we believe in Him, that's all. The man on the cross next to Jesus believed and this was enough for Jesus to guarantee him a place in Heaven. How much strength did this criminal have to love Jesus? Probably NONE as he was almost certainly 100% busy using ALL his strength to cope with the torment of crucifixion.

Anonymous said...

Why would he have been terrified to die? He certainly knew that his suffering would end and he'd be back in heaven with his father the minute he expired. And then, of course, in only three days he'd be back newer and better than ever. I can understand him being terrified of how he was dying, but not of the dying itself.

Wrong. It came from the old testament/Torah Passover the Catholic church didn't like Easter and couldn't get rid of it so tried to cover it... however badly it turned out

Anonymous said...

I can't believe the nit-picking among 'believers'? about what kind of cross Jesus was hung on. The only Important thing to know is that He was crucified FOR OUR REDEMPTION! To reconcile us to GOD the FATHER, to give us LIFE, and that in abundance. Unless you have received Jesus Christ and confessed HIM as your LORD and SAVIOR you are DEAD in trespasses and SIN. And you are bound for an eternity separated from GOD.
Luke 16:22-24 The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 "Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. NKJV

I love him and would never argue over how he died but I will stand up and say why he died, For me and my imperfections and all the love he has for me! Amen

I believe there is a God and that he is our Father. His Son is our savior. He took upon himself all the sins, infirmities, suffering of mankind, so that he could better help us. All this was done in the Garden of Gethsemane, where he suffered so much that he even sweated blood. His painful death just added to this suffering. It is not important how he died, but what he died for. And it's not his death we should remember, but that he lives. That he resurrected in the 3rd day, destroying the chains of death and because he did he grants every men and women the same blessing to one day live again. That perfect act of love (because there is no greater love, to give your life for your friends) is what gives us hope. I believe in it, I have faith in it, I know He lives and because he lives we will too. I Hope all of you have a great Sunday of Resurrection. I respect everyone's opinion. But my opinion is not based on science but on a simple answer to my prayer. He is there you don't need science to figure it out. Just find out for yourself. He is at a distance from the knees to the floor. Sorry if my English is not good. I leave this in his names, yes, my savior, Jesuschrist. Amen.

For that 1st comment, that turns up on the post title, here's the definition of the original greek word for cross used in the bible:

σταυρός [STAURO/S] {staurós} \stow-ros'\ ; a stake or post (as set upright), i.e. (specially), a pole or cross (as an instrument of capital punishment); figuratively, exposure to death, i.e. self-denial; by implication, the atonement of Christ:--cross.

I study greek, and greek is not english, you have to realize there is not always an exact equivalent of translation of english words for Greek, they can be translated usually by a few different words, with usually the same meaning. It can mean stake or cross, but obviously historically we know it's a cross.

If Jesus was god and he was omnipotent then he could easily have avoided the situation, but in case he didn't and I am to believe that he did it on purpose to teach us something, then that means that he is a manipulative, lying fuck who deserves to be pissed on and if he really felt the pain, I would say that his pain means nothing because he was a vagrant middle eastern, normal human being who tried to deceive people and got fucked in the ass. You see, godmen have existed throughout our recorded history, they are the scum of our society; vermins who must be exterminated without remorse. You know why? Because they live, breed and orgasm on the fear and ignorance of the average human being. If Jesus ever existed, he was no less than such a vermin.

In college I had a wonderful chemistry professor who was a devout Christian. Considering myself a man of science, but growing up in the church I was deeply conflicted by the time I began to study chemistry. I worked for that professor for a year and in one of our meetings I asked him, "how can you be a man of science, yet remain a person of faith?" He replied, " what is science other than man attempting to understand the tools by which God works?" Since then I have gotten to know many professors and professionals in the field and a great many hold a similar view. That being said, when an atheist states that there is no proof that God/Christ exists/existed I agree completely. However, that is why we have faith and from that faith hope, to live without either is to not live at all. Also, for those of the Christian faith who believe the following of Christ is the only path to God; Pope John Paul II recognized all religions as a path to God and if you believe in Christian dogma; as it is on earth so shall it be in heaven. People just like to argue over who got the names right when they wrote it down. Happy Easter everybody...even the atheists

A "theory" in the scientific sense differs greatly than a "theory" in laymen ' s terms. In science in order for a hypothesis (an idea of how or why something/how or why something works) to be accepted as a theory it must be tested, the conclusion of the test must be repeatable. Not just once, but every single time that test is done. It is labeled a theory because once the observations of those tests are accepted by the scientific community technology may advance and a similar but more thorough answer may come about, thus over time our knowledge of the subject being studied grows and evolves. Scientific theory is backed by an insurmountable amount of hard data and research done over long periods of time which reinforces the scientific principle which is the subject of the study. It is a truly beautiful process.

Not sure who anonymous is, but they need to do a bit fact checking or research themselves before they make these claims. As a person who fascinated with the history of the Bible I have done a lot of research on this myself. The Greeks did execute people on stakes as in the case of the Apostle Phillip,(and there is some debate about this) however, Jesus was indeed Crucified on a cross by the Romans. The word comes from Latin and when broken down is translated as such: 'crucifixio' means 'to fix to a cross'. The word "stow" which meant pole or stake was used by the Greeks for executions some 1200 years Before Christ and If you know your history you know that the Romans conquered the Greeks thus had to adopt not only the Roman language but everything else including the Roman way of execution; crucifixion. The only "religion" that I know of that mistakenly believes Jesus died on a pole are the Jehovah's Witness.

If you check again, you will see that God told Abraham to offer his son as a sacrifice, not to sacrifice his son. When Isaac asked his father what would be offered because he saw nothing...Abraham replied that God would supply the offering. He wasn't lying to Isaac, he was believing that God would not take his son, whom God made so many promises to, but would indeed stop him before he actually did it. God knows everything and how it all will happen from the end to the beginning... He knew Abraham would obey, and so God supplied an animal for Abraham to sacrifice instead of Isaac. It was a test of faith

Also, their "Bible" has been rewritten in order to make sure that their teaching of who Jesus is truth, when it is not. Read the KJV or NIV versions of John 1:1, then read the JW's version, you will notice 1 letter is added to change the entire meaning of the verse, changing the Deity of Christ. Do not be lead astray and do your research before you start to follow false doctrine.

Here's a fact for you...why is it that complete copies of every single old testament book except one...were found and are 2000+ years older than today's version and there are no changes in context and meaning...no other book or story can even come close...even little red riding hood has over 700 versions hence the recent movie...check your facts and your research only someone who ignores some research and accepts others as gospel pun intended does not want to accept truth for what it is... DEAD SEA SCROLLS encase you're wondering... Over 600 prophecies from those old junk books fulfilled in one person verified by many sources... Including the ones that crucified him - Romans and the ones that sent him there Jews...as I Tell everybody "Do your Research" ...do just go find information to suit your argument a true researcher researches the research which obviously you have not done...Take a look at the Berians how amazing they are, for they did not believe what I said but have went and found the truth for which I speak for themselves - Paul

See, that's the big issue...we do not agree. For centuries men have been fighting over the true word, the true prophet, blah blah. In fact, the post mentions the shroud (of Turin, I suppose) as supporting the facts. The fact is that the shroud has been categorically shown not to be old enough. Additionally, the idea that some guy died for MY sins , defined however some "cleric": decides to interpret them in a book full of contradictions, and therefore based on some "cleric's" desire to control MY life and my actions is absurd. The Bible is, no doubt, divinely inspired but fraught with the errors of man and abused by the power seekers for centuries. I find it wonderful to accept that there is a God, it could really care less about me or anyone else as an individual, and that by God's design, I am not able nor qualified to understand.

The article makes this statement and then uses the word "cross" throughout the entire story with no further reference to a stake or how it was made. If the writer truly believed that a stake was used, he should have at least used the term "stake" throughout his own story, don't you think? There are also a few other inconsistencies, like the photo that shows a spike being nailed through the palm of the hand rather than the wrist, which is how they did it. The article is mostly correct but needs to be reviewed for total accuracy.

Anonymous said...

Um...where'd the proof this actually happened and why are half these facts just rewording the same facts stated earlier in the list?

Anonymous said...

I'm disappointed that there isn't any actual explanation of the logic behind how Jesus' crucifixion relates to human sin. I know it's sort of taken for granted by Christians, but I've never understood the basic logical thought process. This list is just an introductory list of physiology concepts to make the concept seem scientific, but clearly believing that someone died for our sins isn't a scientific premise. The fundamental question of why Jesus' death has anything to do with my decisions is entirely evaded, which suggests to me that there is no reasonable explanation.

I know there have been times I know I should have acted and did not. Thank you for sharing this post, it has inspired me to do more for/through Him! Praise God for all He has done in my life and thank You for saving my soul! He didn't have to do this for me, but He chose to give me (and you if you will accept Him) eternal life! I pray you will come to know Him as I have! God bless you! And again to the author of this post: thank you for sharing and fanning the flame for Jesus in my heart!

What if the man we call Jesus was just some crazy man going around ranting about being the son of god and managed to get 12 clueless men to follow (Charles Manson was able to achieve this as well) and he was tortured and executed for being psych, because, you know, back then the mentally ill were treated horribly.

I do believe in Jesus and that He died on .......(I believe a cross) but what He died on doesn't matter to me. I've have too many coincidences (for those who would call it that) where He intervened on my behalf...had many thoughts impressed upon me about praying for someone, and found out later that same person was in great need at the VERY TIME I felt like I should pray for them. I've had Christ give me names of people, wrote the names down and the town with the name (given to me), Googled the name in THAT town and boom.....they were there! I know other Christians who have had the same situations happen to them also. Our Father God is a supernatural God.....He speaks to us if you listen, you will hear Him. The Bible calls it a "still small voice". I some folks on this blog would call this "messed up" or some other explicative word, but the Bible says, "seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you". All you have to do is ask. He does not answer our way though...He answers in His own way and in His own timing. The Bible also says that no one can know the mind of Christ, because His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. I pray that every single one of you on here that do not TRULY know Jesus as your Lord and Savior will come to that Saving knowledge before you die, BECAUSE die you will! No ifs ands or buts about it.....You Will Die....where will you spend your Eternity? Heaven or Hell?

This is all intense beyond imagination. But wasn't Jesus nailed through His hands rather than wrists because there's no way to nail someone through their wrists without breaking a bone? In John Thomas asks to touch Jesus' wounds - scarred hands and side.

Either way, as long as prophesy was fulfilled, which it was, by His wounds we are healed.

Maybe you would like to talk with a Mormon missionary to find out about the Book of Mormon so you can make a legitimate argument. The Book of Mormon is a SECOND testiment of Jesus Christ. We wholly believe in the Bible, as long as it is translated correctly. Please find out the facts before making such statements about other Christians. We need to come together, not tear each other down. There are enough nay sayers out there to do that. God bless!!

So this may have been your introduction into the word of God, the Gospel. Please don't let it be the last keep reading keep informing yourself, let the Holy Spirit grow in you soul..regardless of exactly how he died and all the debate on here, the point is is that he did die and most importantly that he rose again so that you may have full access to the kingdom of God.

if you did more research, you'd know that back then, people were crucified with the hands at the back of the cross so they could support themselves, and the ankles on either side of and straddling the cross (maybe even with footrests to stand on). crucifixion was about humiliation and making an example, not just killing the person. as you said, the romans /perfected/ this technique, and that was for maximum pain and humiliation (aka days or weeks on the cross, suffering before death). jesus couldn't have died from the stake or a 'wrong position'; it's more likely to have been a culmination from the several times he fell while carrying the cross, hunger and dehydration making things worse. you're research is a bit lacking in the research department, but you did get one thing right- jesus was likely in horrible pain before his death.

The bible is, like all 'religion' a series of fables, stories, fiction used to gather and direct the superstitious masses for the purpose of extracting work and money from them. It is full of half-truths, real people, real places, but its more outlandish claims are no more real that any other fiction you might read. There is no doubt in my mind that Jesus existed, and was crucified during Pontius Pilate’s governorship over Judea (during Tiberius’s reign), but other claims of being the 'son of god' is the work of religious over-enthusiasm.

Religion is a self-sustaining myth. there is no god.

This sounds like a first hand account. How can anyone know? There is no historical reference for Jesus. If "He" was really going around doing all that is said "He" has done, don't you think someone would've reported it then, rather than over 40 years later. And don't give me the Shroud of Turin. That is not Jesus' burial cloth. The image of what you think is Jesus is not what he would've looked like had he existed.

The plane with this minor problem take off and lands with no problem BUT what if it does have a problem? Thats the question I asked myself when I an atheist long ago made a decision to accept Jesus . When I die I believe there is a heaven and a hell BUT even if there isn't did this hurt me , hinder me or destroy me. NOPE. Just something to ponder and think about in your life.

You are afraid to divulge any of yourself other than your ignorance in logic. I am sorry you were injured in the dissapointment of being reared as an orphan. Just consider this small question.

If your version of Christianity is correct what have you gained in eternity? Nothing!

If the traditional concept of saved by grace in faith as presented in scripture, what has one like me gained? Only the peace in my heart and soul to look forward to the unknown issue of death with confidence that If I am correct my acceptance of Someone and Something larger than my finite mind has been provided in a love thai I cannot fully comprehend.

If you want to see that demonstrated in a way in your neighborhood... Define the relationship between a man and his dog. Oh yes allow the dog to explain the details of how and why the love relationsip is and works.

OK... you can go bark in your lack of faith and logic.

This would have been more interesting had the author kept it 100% analytic, like an autopsy, and not embellished by repeating things and writing it in a storytelling manner. It starts out good, but by 1/3 of the way through it's just propaganda, trying to get people to feel bad for a guy that may or may not have existed.

Compare this writing style.......

To this writing style........

See what I mean?

Either way you write it or how it actually happened, it's a pretty bad way to go.

REPLY:
=======================
Many of the claims made about parallels between Jesus and pagan figures are only justified by reference to books that are nearly a hundred years out of date and, as J. P. Holding has demonstrated, modern Mithras studies have moved on a good deal. In the few cases where I could check their sources something rather surprising came up. Freke and Gandy are so selective and vague with their references that I could find a statement that totally contradicts their central thesis on the very page that they pointed to.

A couple of examples will surface to show we are not dealing with a pair of objective scholars but people who are willing to pull the wool over the eyes of their readers. They refer many times to The Mysteries of Mithra by Francis Cumont and published in 1903. Yet we find that in his comparison of Mithraism and Christianity, Cumont (certainly no friend of Christianity himself) specifically states that unlike Mithras, Jesus was a real person.

When dealing with ancient sources they are even more blatant. On the basis of some third century pictures of crucifixions, the authors claim Bacchuus was crucified and Christians copied the idea. This is their piece de resistance and they even put one of the pictures on the cover of their book. But suppose there existed an earlier source who stated categorically that no pagan godman was crucified. That would destroy their case and reading the Jesus Mysteries you would assume that neither Freke or Gandy knew of such a source even if it existed. You would be wrong.

They quote from Justin Martyr many times about his concerns that pagans and Christians had some similar rituals (they did and modern scholarship is totally unsurprised by this). He is a second century writer who therefore predates all the pictures of pagan godmen being crucified and he writes:
* But in no instance, not even in any of those called sons of Jupiter, did they imitate the being crucified; for it was not understood by them, all the things said of it having been put symbolically.
* Justin Martyr 's First Apology LX.

No honest scholar would simply fail to quote this vitally important contradiction to their thesis. Gandy did attempt to explain away this passage when it was presented to him but failed utterly and certainly could not say why he ever felt he could simply miss it out of his book.

Acts 5:30

God does not want us to lament what happened to Jesus he does not want us to feel guilty or feel his suffering or pain, etc. He wants us to focus on God's love, he wants us to focus and be like Jesus in that he was a good person, he loved God and he loved his brothers and sisters. God wants us to be happy and share that happiness with others through pure love. We have been taught to focus on the negative and feel pain, feel the pain that Jesus felt for us. This is NOT what GOD wants! We have been taught that through pain we will be saved some how. The only way you can be saved is if you save yourself. Be love, live breath love,be patient, be kind, respect nature, respect animal life, respect your brothers and sisters. It's not easy, but that is what God wants. He wants us to be good people, think good thoughts, make good actions, and want what is good for ourselves and others. He does not want sickness, he does not want pain or suffering, these are things we bring upon ourselves or at times, unfortunately, we are sickened, etc. as a result of others' poor decisions. But we can choose to be positive people and that is a very powerful thing because this way we allow God to do his will through us. Because in the end each and everyone of us is GOD! That's right, YOU are GOD! God is in everything. So lets do him and ourselves a favor and wake up the divine self in you and be HAPPY! Don't be afraid to be Happy! That's what God wants for us!

PEACE, LOVE, HARMONY TO ALL! HAPPY EASTER!

Acts 5:30,10:39,13:29 1peter 2:24,galatian 3:13 the word used there can't be translated as cross so it is tree. In classical Greek the word Stauros , used at Matthew 27:40, meant merely an upright stake, or pale, or a pile such as is used for a foundation. But lets remember what he died for. The big thing to remember also is Idolatry is a sin. And the cross is used as and idol. Isaiah 44:14-20.

We're so hung up on the physical suffering of Jesus, that we overlook the true agony of being separated from the Father for 3 days. As terrible as his torture was he never uttered a word. Only when he was separated from the Father to pay for our sins did he cry out: 'My God, why have you forsaken me?' - Not because he thought the plan had failed, but because for the first time in his life he no longer felt the presence of God the Father with him. The power of Christs salvation for us is not in his suffering on the cross, many, many people suffered that fate. The real power and victory is in his death to pay for our sins and his resurrection after 3 days. Nobody but Jesus could accomplish that.

A study edition of the New World Translation supports the religion's belief by reproducing an illustration from a work by 16th century philologist Justus Lipsius showing a man suspended by the wrists on a crux simplex or upright pole.[90] The image is given at the head of this article, along with Justus Lipsius's illustration of the gibbet used for Jesus, which shows a traditional-style cross with cross-bar. James Penton, who was raised as a Jehovah's Witness but was expelled from the religion on grounds of apostasy in 1981, has claimed that the use of the single illustration by the Watch Tower Society "demonstrates so clearly how much their scholarship is affected by dogmatism". "Watch Tower scholars falsely leave the impression that Lipsius thought that Jesus was put to death in that way", he wrote. "In fact, Lipsius gives sixteen illustrations of impalement, thirteen of which show stakes with some sort of cross member."[91]
