Stressed Out? Do You Honor The Sabbath?

Insight Into the Scriptures
Continuing to prove Christ's superiority, the writer compares Jesus to Moses. Back then Moses was the pinnacle of a leader, to make any man above Moses was radical. It would be like someone today, making a person higher than Jesus. We would react and say "No way", this is how they felt back then.

Hebrews 4:9-12
"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

Thought for the Day
The Sabbath, the day of rest. I have always read this, and I know that this is one of God's commands, but he wrote it so long ago, and it is so hard to do in our 24/7 world. I mean back then all they had to do was attend to goats and sheep right?

Well, God did write it for us; today. I looked up "Sabbath" in the Hebrew meaning, and it says "The seventh day of the week in the Hebrew Calendar (modern Saturday) with a focus of this as a day of rest and worship." So really "The Sabbath" is really not even Sunday, it is Saturday.

So what does a "Sabbath" mean to you? For some it may mean it is on a Sunday which is fine. But, what about the people that work retail and they are required to work on a Sunday? I know that God knows your heart, and I believe that God is not so much concerned with what day it is, He is concerned that it is a day that does happen. I know that Christ is excited when we make the effort to honor Him and make it a point to find rest in Him.

I would encourage you, if you do not have a day of "Rest in the Lord" that you find your day. How you connect with God and rest in Him is yours to explore, but, did you notice how the writer went from "Rest in the Lord" to speaking about the Bible? Hmmmmm a thought for you to ponder. I would pray that you will find time to "Rest."
